¿qué tal?
how are you?, how's it going?
Pronunciation
/ˈke ˈtal/
Cultural Note
This is Spain's most common informal greeting, equivalent to 'how are you?' but often rhetorical — a simple 'bien' or 'aquí andamos' suffices. It can also be used to ask about something specific: '¿qué tal la película?' (how was the movie?). It is slightly more casual than '¿cómo estás?'
📝 Example Sentences
