Cultural Note
In Spain, greetings involve physical contact: dos besos (two cheek kisses, starting with the right cheek) among friends and family, and a handshake in professional contexts. In Latin America, one kiss on the cheek is standard. Not greeting someone properly — even briefly — is considered very rude in Spanish culture.
