Cultural Note
In French culture, 'le Parisien' is less a geographic descriptor and more a whole personality type. They walk fast, dress in black, think their city is the center of the universe, and view anything beyond the périphérique (ring road) as 'la province.' Every other region of France has opinions about Parisians, and none of them are kind. The rivalry between Paris and the rest of France is an ancient blood sport disguised as banter.
