Cultural Note

'Beterschap' is the standard wish when someone is ill or unwell. Dutch people often send a 'beterschapskaart' (get-well card) or flowers. It's considered thoughtful to check in on someone who is sick, but the Dutch also respect people's need for rest and won't overstay their welcome.
