onzekerheid
insecurity, uncertainty
Intermediate Noun common

Pronunciation
/ˈɔn.zeː.kər.ɦɛi̯t/
💡
Cultural Note
The Dutch are culturally inclined toward planning and certainty -- 'zekerheid' (security/certainty) is highly valued. The opposite, 'onzekerheid,' is therefore particularly uncomfortable. In relationships, the Dutch prefer directness precisely to reduce onzekerheid about where they stand.
