Cultural Note

'Odlot' literally means 'takeoff' (as in a plane departing), but in slang it means something so amazing it takes you to another dimension — or conversely, someone who's totally out of it. 'Totalny odlot!' is the reaction to something mind-blowing. But 'masz odlot' (you have a takeoff) means you're delusional or out of your mind. The dual meaning — ecstatic positive vs. 'you're crazy' — is typical of Polish slang's playful ambiguity. Used since the 1990s, still very much alive.

📝 Example Sentences

Masz odlot, jeśli myślisz, że to zadziała.
