sztos
awesome, fire, amazing (slang)
Pronunciation
/ʂtɔs/
Cultural Note
'Sztos' comes from German 'Stoß' (a hit/push) and evolved in Polish slang to mean something that hits you — i.e., something amazing. It exploded in popularity around 2015-2020 among young Poles and is used as an exclamation or predicate ('to jest sztos!'). It's the Polish equivalent of 'fire' or 'lit.' You'll hear it about food, parties, music, even people. Slightly fading now as newer slang replaces it, but still widely understood.
