Cultural Note
Originally meant 'to tan/cure leather,' but in Brazilian slang it means 'to enjoy' or 'to have a good time.' With social media, it also became the standard verb for 'to like' (a post). 'Curtir a vida' means to enjoy life. In Portugal, 'curtir' exists but is less common; they prefer 'gostar' or 'apreciar.'
