Unlike English 'I,' Portuguese 'eu' is not capitalized unless it begins a sentence. In Brazilian Portuguese, subject pronouns are often used (like English), while European Portuguese tends to drop them since the verb conjugation makes the subject clear. 'Eu' is always lowercase in the middle of a sentence — capitalizing it is a common mistake influenced by English.
