Cultural Note
Both countries have proud cheese traditions. Portugal's queijo da Serra da Estrela, made from raw sheep's milk, is one of the world's great cheeses — creamy inside, you cut off the top and spoon it out. Brazil's 'queijo minas' from Minas Gerais was declared a UNESCO intangible cultural heritage in 2008. The artisanal queijo canastra is especially prized.
